Spridd has worked with the urban development of Albyberget for the property owner Mitt Alby. The work is a visionary overall undertaking that is aiming for the development from the small to the large scale with the focus on many qualities that the area has. The work objective is to develop the landscape, streets and buildings into a safer and more attractive living environment for residents and new tenants. Mitt Alby’s long-term and ambitious goals for the area make this project a highly interesting case study for the current debate on the Million program areas future.
A key challenge is that the measures in the renovations, reconstruction, extension and new construction are carried out to provide a mix of new homes available for people with different economic predispositions. The current experience suggests that the increasing housing shortage combined with the intense pressure of migrations to the Stockholm region have altered the market preconditions to build new homes in the Million Programme areas. The challenge is however, as in the Million Programme days, to build robust and high-quality housing with a large amount of repetition, standard solutions and rationality in order to achieve a sustainable economy for the property owners and the new residents.
An important starting point for the current work was the inauguration of the premises Rådslaget in December. Rådslaget is Mitt Alby’s Future Workshop which establishes a physical focal point for the coming years work in the reconstruction, extension, expansion and the new construction of the residential, commercial and social facilities and the development of the common outdoor areas.
