Do we live in the same city?
Spridd is engaged in debates on urban development as well as in practical urban planning. Spridd has an ongoing collaboration with researchers at Örebro University, Centre for Urban and Regional Studies (CUReS) in Örebro and KTH, The Royal Institute of Technology, Division of Urban Studies, in Stockholm.
In the anthology “Do we live in the same city”, published by Spridd in 2005, a wide range of perspectives on the future city is presented. Urban planners and architects all pose the key questions for sustainable urban development where social justice and diversity are promoted. The essays stroke a variety of topics; Dutch suburbs, building construction company’s sales strategies, Danish city planning and the EU's rhetoric on competitive cities. Further discussions deal with the urban sprawl, the media coverage of the Million programs in Swedish suburbs, the 19th century city planning renaissance and dreams about the urban environment in the new middle class.
