Spridd in collaboration with Etat have won the prestigious category for residential housing in the 2013 AR/MIPIM Future Project Awards. The prize, granted for international projects demonstrating outstanding potential at planning/competion phase, was granted for “Weave”, an urban planning proposal for Trehörningen, a development site in Norrköping, Sweden. The award ceremony takes place in March at the international real estate and architecture event MIPIM in Cannes.
"Weave" won a limited competition organized by Norrköping city together with SA, the Swedish Architects Association, in November 2012. The project is a proposal for a residential building with commercial space on the ground floor on a centrally located plot in Norrköping’s historic industrial inner city landscape. The design creates a square in the dense urban landscape where three streets meet. "Weave" is part of the city's transformation as buildings in the area, originally used by the textile industry, and they are now gradually converted into office space, educational and cultural institutions, and housing. The proposed architecture interprets the characteristic themes of the industrial landscape such as large windows, local towers, repetitive and rationally organized windows. The building's facade is made of precast concrete with an undulating surface, which gives a textile character; windows are in gold-anodized aluminum.
